Psychiatry wants to add internet addiction to the DSM and make it an official mental disorder. They want to add chatting, sexy girls and video games as types of addiction.

This is just another scientology propaganda vehicle. None of the information shown here has any scientific credibility whatsoever. None of this garbage can be backed up by any kind of research data, it’s just drivel!

Whether we can classify various Internet uses as “addictions” really will depend on one’s definition of addiction. But the fact remains that many people do find an unhealthy and unstoppable compulsion brewing in their lives and it would be good to equip psychiatrists with adequate knowledge about how to help them.
Some are eager to see IAD in the DSM-V for a number of reasons. Some what a respected scientific reference to validate their concerns. Some simply want the reality of Internet compulsions to be taken seriously. Whether IAD ends up in the DSM-V won’t change the fact that millions of people have growing compulsions that need addressing.
