UTICA, N.Y. — The state health commissioner has pulled the license of a Utica psychiatrist.
Anthony Nappi, 80, has been charged with 46 incidents of medical misconduct with 11 different patients. The list of charges are extensive and the Department of Health says Dr. Nappi inappropriately touched female patients, made inappropriate remarks, failed to perform patient assessments or order laboratory tests and breached patient confidentiality.
A hearing on the charges is set for next week. Until then, his license is suspended, meaning he cannot care for patients.

Ive been seeing Dr. Nappi for a little over a year. He has helped my life so much that i cant even begin to say. Without him I be in a really bad place right now. I think these accusations against him are wrong and i wish him luck in court cause i still want him as a doc.

Dr. Nappi may not be your regular Doctor, but he has saved countless people from a lifetime of being hooked on painkillers. You can talk to him like a regular person. It’s a sad day when they start going after the doc that get you off meds, instead of going after the ones the hook you on them in the first place.

What a day when a good doctor loses his license on the say so of a few “characters” Hello this is an addiction specialists. Sorry to say Junkies LIE, how about going after the doctors that prescribe the highly addictive narcotics in the first place. No let’s go after the doctor that helps people. I am furious.

I saw Dr nappi for 3 years, He constantly breached HIPPA laws, Patient confidentiality, And my last straw with him was patient abandonment. He went on vacation 5 days before he was scheduled to see me. Dr Nappi constantly talked about how he couldn’t stand “junkies” and How it was a blessing that so many people were addicted to drugs, Because that put $$ in his pocket. I honestly believe dementia was setting in. I would call him and he would answer Quote “Who the Fuck are you?” Nappi isnt a bad person, He just needs to straighten his practice up.

I have to agree some what with the patient above. He was not your “regular” doctor, he would introduce patients to each other while the patience were still in session.he did curse, my regular physician would have been appalled at his behavior, but like the poster above, he might be right, dementia may be setting in and that’s a shame because i do think he really wants to help people. I never would have guessed him to be 80.However, he has been threatened by junkie when he would not give them medicines they wanted.Maybe that is why he resents them. I don’t believe he “hates” anyone.

Well if dementia is setting in fine, test him for that, but 46 charges, that’s quite a bit. I had no idea there were that many allegations against him.He always cursed though. Inappropriate that it was it was not vicious, unfortunately cussing is quite acceptable in our culture and it shouldn’t be. Perhaps he spoke that way because the patients spoke that way. I know I did not, but a good guess is a lot of them did. LOL I never thought of him as a touchy feely doctor though,he never came across that way at all.I think he resigned so he would not have his license forcibly from him.Now what about his patients what are they to do? Any suggestions? Anyone?

What happens now to all his patients??? Soboxone doctors are far and few between. How about all of our records. Who else saw them and may have copies of them. This scares me. When Dr, Nappi first told me about his troubles he said it was one patient that constantly “lied” about him.I read though that there were over 11 patients and 46 charges of gross negligence. In his surrender agreement he is supposed to refer us to other Dr.s’, so are we screwed now. I can’t find a doctor either.I also read this is not the firwst time, he was charged in 2006 for misconduct and suspended and paid a fine. They waived the suspension then. This time they were not going to overlook it.Now I am a wreck wondering who saw my files, who did he discuss me with?Is Dr. Nappi being sued on legal grounds? How do we find out these things. I called to get my file, and his office # of course is disconnected.Where do we go from here? What happened to the Hippocratic oath “First do no harm”. He has harmed a lot of people.
