The Florida Department of Health has finalized the license revocation of Fort Myers psychiatrist Cecilio Pizarro, who accepted a plea agreement last year and was sentenced to prison for illegally dispensing controlled substances, according to state records.

Pizarro was arrested March 29, 2007 by the Fort Myers Police Department on charges of illegally dispensing narcotics to patients in exchange for sex. Police and agents with the U.S. Drug and Enforcement Administration had conducted a joint investigation of his practice. Shortly after his arrest, the state health department issued an emergency suspension of Pizarro’s license to practice, located at the time at 1342 Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers.

Pizarro accepted a plea agreement on two counts of illegally dispensing methadone and oxycodone and was sentenced last fall to 27 months in prison on each count to run concurrently, according to federal court documents.
